How to Quit Smoking
Forget patches, pills and hypnosis. It is just a matter of willpower.
All the talk about nicotine addiction is kind of baloney. The nicotine is not the problem. It is just a very pleasurable habit.
The only good reason to stop, is for your health.
In the first few days, you will feel antsy. But you will also feel a burst of energy and well-being. learn to enjoy it.
One of the reasons for smoking, is the oral gratification. Chewing gum may help substitute. Kissing and sex are even better.
Your sex drive will go up. This may be a problem for people who already have a high sex drive. Try working out as deal with your partner, where you trade more frequent sex for the honest attempt to quit. It can be an incentive.
Don't worry about coffee or alcohol. You can't quit everything at once.
Watch out for stressful situations. That when you buy a pack and smoke it all in a few hours.
When you finally quit for a few weeks, don't fall into the trap of thinking that since you know how to quit, now you can start again.
once you have quit smoking for a few days or a week, you are pretty much over the chemical addiction part. The rest is just fighting the habit and the craving.
It is probably easier to quit smoking than to quit coffee.
