I love Gambling

I love gambling. I fly to Denver, Colorado. Then, I board a round-trip bus to Central City, for $9. Once I get there, I get $6 back to gamble with. I always ask for nickels, that is 120 of them. Then, I eat some great prime rib in one of the casino's, and hang out. There is something fascinating about the casino atmosphere. I just breathe it in. By the end of the day, chances are, I was not able to use up all my nickels in the slot machines. So, I go back to Denver with $3 or $5 from my original $9, in a nice, clean cardboard roll. I may give it to charity.

Thoughts

I have never seen anyone addicted to gambling in my life. I wonder is gambloholics are not simply a creation of someone's mind.

Roulette, poker and black jack seem to be fun, although I don't play any of them. Slot machines are just arcade games with fewer buttons. I really fail to grasp what the big deal is about them.

It seems hypocritical to try to protect compulsive gamblers from themselves, while as a society, we do nothing about compulsive shoppers (actually, we encourage them, we give them credit cards with spending limits they often cannot possibly pay back).

The stock market is a very nice, legal way to gamble. There are no restrictions whatsoever. The good thing, is that historically and statistically speaking, you are just a little bit more likely to make money than to loose money in the stock market. But the difference with a casino is only of a few percentage points of probability.

The worst gambling deals are state lotteries. The odds are said to be much, much worse than in Vegas.

Casino's used to be on Cuba, then in Vegas (which used to be absolutely the middle of nowhere), and on Indian reservations and riverboats that don't sail. Gambling happens in the air and in international waters and on the Internet. One has to admire the creativity of Americans when it comes to finding ways around the law, just to gamble.
